Persia Mohseni
Persia Mohseni is a final-year student in the 3-year Distance Education Master of Social Work program and an IBH scholar at UNC Charlotte. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Western Michigan University in 2005. Persia is committed to providing accessible mental health services to those in need, advocating for equitable care, and striving to create safe, inclusive spaces for individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those who may face barriers to receiving support. She has experience facilitating psychoeducational vaping cessation support groups for adolescents in school settings and leading workshops on addiction prevention strategies for parents, and youth-support specialists. Additionally, she has worked with allies and parents/caregivers in the LGBTQ+ community through her involvement with PFLAG Charlotte.
Persia is currently interning as a Mental Health Therapist at Atrium Southpark Pediatrics, where she provides behavioral health services and connects clients with community resources. As an affirming therapist intern, she works with youth and families, specializing in adolescent-related issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, ADHD, substance use disorders (SUD), emotional dysregulation, trauma, and social skills development, including communication, decision-making, self-esteem, and goal setting. Persia’s integrated approach draws from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), internal family systems (IFS), motivational interviewing, and brief interventions to provide comprehensive, individualized care.
Upon graduation, Persia plans to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) while continuing to provide trauma-informed, resilience-oriented care to underserved populations. As a yin yoga instructor, Persia also aims to become a Certified Yoga Therapist and a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction.
