Javonna McGrew is a 1-year Advanced Standing Distance Education student in the Master of Social Work program and an IBH Scholar at UNC Charlotte. She earned a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of North Carolina in 2023. Javonna is passionate about working with children who face behavioral health challenges, aiming to enhance their overall mental well-being. She joined the Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH) program to refine her skills to serve the behavioral health population as part of an integrated care team. She has previous experience at Center 360, an after-school program, and as a patient safety attendant in the behavioral health department of Levine Children’s Hospital. Currently, Javonna is interning at Cabarrus Health Alliance Primary Care Pediatric Clinic. After graduation, she aims to work with children with behavioral health concerns, though she remains open to exploring other opportunities. She also aspires to earn a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to advance her career, trusting that she will follow whatever path aligns with God’s plan for her.
