Lacey Rowan, MSW

Lacey is a second-year MSW student at UNC Charlotte. She graduated in 2019 from UNC-Chapel Hill with a double major in Psychology and Women’s & Gender Studies. During her senior year, she was a Co-Chair of Rethink: Psychiatric Illness, an organization focused on educating the UNC-Chapel Hill community about mental health with the goal to reduce mental health stigma on campus and in the community. In her first year in the MSW program, Lacey was placed at Women + Girls Research Alliance and Matthews Free Medical Clinic where she was introduced to many diverse populations and the intersectional issues that affect their lives. Throughout her social work career, Lacey is interested in reducing health disparities, especially in mental health care, as well as fighting for many other social justice issues like racial and gender equality, access to affordable quality education, and criminal justice reform. Lacey has a particular passion for issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community, women, and adolescents. She is excited to have the opportunity to complete her second-year placement with the Novant Health Michael Jordan Family Medical Clinic.
