Emily Holtzclaw is a second-year Master of Social Work student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is a member of the Phi Alpha Honor Society, an Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH) Scholar, and serves on the Executive Board of the Graduate Social Work Association. In another life, Emily was a professional dancer and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance and Choreography from Columbia College, SC. On both the macro and micro levels, she is passionate about improving the quality of mental health services available to Medicaid and Medicare recipients and those with inadequate or no health insurance. Emily intends to pursue licensure upon graduation and aims to provide services informed by the needs of the LGBTQIA+ community, persons with ADHD and ASD, and individuals navigating ethical non-monogamy, polyamory, and other non-traditional relationship types. Last year, she interned with the Women in Transition (WIT) Program at YWCA Central Carolinas and is excited to complete her 2022 – 2023 field placement at Atrium Health Levine Children’s Arboretum Pediatrics.
