Esmeralda Martinez, MSW
Esmeralda earned her Bachelor of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC); she continues at UNCC as a graduate student in pursuit of a Master of Social Work. Esmeralda is bilingual and enjoys working with immigrants and refugees, food insecure communities, and older adults. She has experience in managing and leading an educational campaign, collecting and interpreting data, and working in interdisciplinary teams. She has been involved with nonprofit organizations serving underserved communities and older adult long-term care facilities. Esmeralda is a National Science Foundation Fellow who has engaged in undergraduate research focused on food insecurity in the Charlotte area. She has showcased her research at the Harvey B. Gantt Center and was accepted to the National Conference on Undergraduate Research and The Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors Conference in 2020.
