Lydia McNamara, MSW

Lydia is a graduate student in the advanced standing Masters of Social Work program at UNC Charlotte. She earned her Bachelors in Social Work and a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies from UNC Charlotte in 2018. Lydia interned at Gaston County DSS while completing the Child Welfare Scholar’s program for her undergraduate degree. Since graduating in 2018, Lydia has worked as the primary social worker in the emergency room and obstetric unit at Atrium Health Stanly. Working in the hospital setting has given her a variety of experiences with child and elder abuse, substance abuse, homelessness, domestic violence, psychiatric care and coordination, end of life care, and healthcare access. For her master’s degree, Lydia is interning at Levine Children’s Specialty Center working with pediatric patients in the immunology, infectious disease, rheumatology, and hepatology clinics.
