Become an IBH Practicum Instructor
The Integrated Behavioral Health Scholars Program at the UNC Charlotte School of Social Work is a comprehensive behavioral health workforce development training program that prepares culturally competent master’s level social work students for careers as clinical behavioral health specialists working with children, adolescent and/or transitional age youth, including primary care and other team-based care settings that serve high need/high demand populations. HRSA funding is used specifically to recruit and retain bilingual and/or bicultural students from underserved populations; develop new practicum placement slots in clinics serving high need/high demand populations; and, ultimately to build the workforce by preparing students for careers in settings where there is a high need for integrated behavioral health care among underserved populations.
The UNC Charlotte IBH Program leverages shared University and community resources to attract, educate, and train culturally-competent professional social workers. Goals of this program are (1) to place program trainees in the behavioral health workforce upon graduation, (2) expand the number of integrated training sites with medically underserved populations, engaging trainees from multiple disciplines, (3) develop a collaborative training model that engages all trainees in on-going cross-disciplinary seminars. Ultimately, improving the Continuum of Care for Mental Health in our community.
